What Sarai is
Driving electric in Pakistan should not mean guessing
Chargers here are scattered across motorway service areas, hotel car parks, malls and petrol pumps, with no single list that is right. Planning a Lahore-to-Karachi run has meant asking in a WhatsApp group and hoping. Half the range figures on a showroom floor are measured on a Chinese test cycle that has nothing to do with the M-5 in August.
Sarai is the whole charging journey in one app: find, plan, drive, charge, pay. Built by Thingsty and named after the roadside inn where a journey used to stop for the night.

How we know a charger is real
A charging map is only worth the state of its worst entry. Every station on ours is verified against more than one source before it is published, and kept honest after that.
- Drivers who charged thereAnyone who plugs in can confirm a station in the app, and anyone who finds one broken can flag it in two taps. A confirmation is the only thing that earns a Verified badge, and a flag pulls the charger out of everyone's trip plan until it is confirmed working again.
- Our own verificationNothing is published unchecked. Every record is matched against what we already hold so the same charger is never listed twice, its coordinates are validated against its stated address, and a person reviews it before it goes live.
- Our own technologyChargers running on the Sarai platform report to us directly over OCPP, so their status, power and price come from the charge point itself rather than from a form somebody filled in. Site owners can claim a listing and put it on that live feed.

How many EV charging stations are there in Pakistan?
181 chargers are on the Sarai map. 124 of them are public charging stations with a page on this site. 84 of those are DC fast at 43 kW and up, across 34 cities and every motorway. The remaining 57 are private 7 kW home wallboxes: they are on the map in the app, but this site does not publish a page with somebody's house on it.
Can I drive Lahore to Karachi in an electric car?
Yes. The 1,203 km run uses the M-3, M-4, M-5, N-5 and M-9, with 38 DC fast chargers within reach of the road. A standard-range EV such as a BYD Atto 3 or an MG ZS EV needs about 4 stops. The route page lists them in driving order, and works the same out for a small battery, a long-range car and an extended-range one.
How much does EV charging cost in Pakistan?
DC fast charging is listed at PKR 100 to 150 per kWh, most often around PKR 115; AC chargers at malls and hotels are cheaper or free with parking. A 60 kWh battery from 20 to 80 percent is roughly PKR 4,100 at that middle price. Each charger page shows its own listed price.
Which charging connector do EVs in Pakistan use?
97 percent of the DC chargers listed here are CCS2, which fits BYD, MG, Kia, Hyundai, Tesla with an adapter, and the Chinese imports. AC charging is Type 2. The car pages list what each model takes.
Is the Sarai app free?
Yes. Finding chargers, planning trips and navigation are free on Android and iOS. You pay only for the electricity when you charge at a Sarai charger, from a prepaid PKR wallet.
How do I report a broken charger?
Open the charger in the app and tap Report; the charger is flagged for other drivers and the planner stops recommending it until it is confirmed working. The WhatsApp community is the quickest place to ask whether a stop is up tonight.
